Valency Valley

The River Valency is located in North Cornwall with many tributaries, and cuts a valley before entering the sea at the village of Boscastle. One of its tributaries is the River Jordan, which it joins in Boscastle just before the B3263 road bridge.

The valley is steep sided and the sides of the lower section are wooded. Significant channel erosion occurred following the Boscastle flood of 2004.1

Heavy rainfall for 5 hours one afternoon on the 16th August 2004 lead to severe flooding and structural damage.
