DYK for Facial trauma

Updated DYK query On 26 October 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Facial trauma, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Wow—great work! I saw this on DYK and thought "this has Delldot written all over it" ;) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 18:52, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree, it's an excellent article. — BillC talk 20:10, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Impressive indeed. --WS (talk) 22:36, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Seconded. I saw this on DYK and guessed immediately it'd be you! —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 22:39, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Thoracic aorta injury

I saw on your to-do list that you'd like to create thoracic aorta injury. I'd love to get involved in that, in fact I may create a stub/start later today or this week. Do you think PMID 9017797 would be a good starting point? —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 10:59, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Aw, busted: that's been on my to do list for like a year and a half. The thing that's been stalling me is I gotta figure out exactly what the connection is between that and traumatic aortic rupture; is the latter a subset of the former? But yeah, if you want to figure out the relationship and create it, go wild! (Also, there's thoracic aortic rupture). The review looks great, free full text and everything. Is there anything more recent than 97? It can at least play a part either way. delldot ∇. 01:55, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and thanks much for the new article trophy nom!  :D delldot ∇. 01:58, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
No problem :) Traumatic aortic rupture is a subset of thoracic aorta injury. The aorta can be injured by other mechanisms as discussed in the article. It might be worth merging the two articles eventually. Thoracic aortic rupture will certainly be a subset of thoracic aorta injury for the same reason. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 10:58, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Excellent work!

Congratulations! You have captured WikiProject Medicine's unofficial Missing Article Trophy by creating Facial trauma. Enjoy it as long as you can! --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 18:41, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Template:Manchester United F.C. trophies

Hi there. Thanks for closing the deletion discussion on Template:Manchester United F.C. 1998-99. However, that template was moved to Template:Manchester United F.C. trophies during the deletion discussion and was not deleted. Any chance you could do that for me? Cheers. – PeeJay 15:57, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Wow, I'm a moron. Got it now, thanks for pointing that out. delldot ∇. 05:01, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Infobox Chubut

See WP:TFD#To orphan. This, that and the other talk 06:28, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much for doing this, I've been avoiding it because it's a giant pain. I use the |subdivision_type1 and |subdivision_name1 , so put capital for type and the name of the capital for the name. Seat_type and seat are actually probably better for the capital though. There's also |blank1_name and blank1_info for fields that are missing. You can use Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Infobox_Settlement for ideas, and of course feel free to ask me if you have any trouble. Thanks again! delldot ∇. 05:46, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Epidural haematoma

Thanks for reminding me about Image:Epidural hematoma.png. Remember the case vividly. Wasn't actually traumatic, which was the weirdest thing. I do indeed hold the copyright; the image is anonymised so there are no privacy concerns.

While we're talking, I'm finishing work on meningitis, which has been my pet project over the last two weeks. With some luck I will be submitting it for GA fairly soon. I might still learn something new here. JFW | T@lk 07:54, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm a bit hesitant to ask but will do so regardless. I know you're really busy with the TBI page, but could you have a look at meningitis? It's up at GAC at the moment... JFW | T@lk 12:11, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your GA review, and for (unexpectedly) passing it straight away! You're awesome. I'll try to comment at the TBI peer review when I have some time today. JFW | T@lk 06:44, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Seconded :) If that's even a word... —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 17:48, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
No problem JFW, it's another high quality article from you. Your responses at /GA1 are fine. Thanks Cyclone! delldot ∇. 23:43, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Keeping tidy...

Hey delldot, I am trying to keep the page manageable, I think I have addressed teh first section of queries you raised, so if you could strike and collapse that would be great, and if you are not satisfied let me know. Sorry to nag but just trying to keep the page manageable... Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:41, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Yep, everything looks fixed now. Thanks for dealing with all that, sorry to give you so much work to do! delldot ∇. 05:10, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Head trauma

hello there delldot!

This is Dr. Doug Watt, you left a message for me. E-mail me at <poof!>. then we can talk. It does look like you've done a lot of work on your head trauma article but I haven't had a chance to look at it, and right now I am just too busy to offer a whole lot of editorial assistance. When I come up for air I can try to send you a PDF summary of some of the salient issues in head trauma. best,DFW —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.180.129.233 (talk) 21:44, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Sounds great, I'll definitely email you. Thanks very much! delldot ∇. 23:39, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Carnegie Mellon Rugby FC

I believe you locked my page.

I realise there was information that was not in English and I will remove that. However the quotes you refer to are not exactly quotes but the nicknames of the players in the team. I fail to see what gives you gentleman the authority to tell our team that our nicknames are inappropriate. We have had this webpage for ages now and nobody has updated it to include our team roster. The team finally decided to take action and uploaded the team roster. If you want us to link it to a reference sourse then I will do so with ourwebsite www.carnegiemellonrugby.com. The website is partly done and will be finished soon.

I would appreciate it if you unlocked this page so Carnegie Mellon Rugby can edit this page as to our own requirements - rather than those of Wikipedia administrators that - although they have good intentions - know absolutely nothing about or team and team culture.

How do I get drop down (eh what do you call it?) just like your userpage? I tried to use {{hat}} but apparently it is only for Talk page archives. Also I don't understand any coding on your userpage but its similar to what I want..|--Unpopular Opinion (talk · contribs) 03:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

There's a bunch of templates that use the navbox collapsible thing. Probably the easiest would be {{hide}}. You can set the background color with |bg1= set the header with |header= and set the formats (borders etc) with |contentcss= |headercss= and then what you want to go in the box with |content=. so for example, {{hide|bg1=pink|contentcss=border:1px red solid; |headercss=color:blue; |header= Whatever you do, don't press show |content=Gah! You pressed it! }} will give you:

enjoy! delldot ∇. 04:31, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Molluscum contagiosum

hello again. been a while. i've been very busy with non wikipedia stuff, you know - life? anyway aconflict has arisen over the titled article. 2 guys who claim no medical expertise want to include a paragraph on 'non-medicinal treatments' i have explained to one of them that these violate wp: not a manual. they either disagree or just don't care. on top of everything else, the rx it speaks of sounds like a generally bad idea, although it claims a microbiological basis. in any event, wp shouldn't be advising kids to burn their skin lesions with a heated pin! please take a look. i undid it again just now, so you may have to look in the history. pax vobiscum. Toyokuni3 (talk) 18:36, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Good to hear from you again! Yep, it's unfortunate that reverting is going on, but hopefully that'll cool down. It'd be great if you and the other two people could begin a discussion on it, I don't see anything on the article's talk page. Have you tried contacting them? I'm leaving them notes to see my response here.
I agree that the material that sounds like it's giving medical advice should go, as should the unreferenced material. In addition to not being a how to manual, WP doesn't give medical advice. (WP:MEDMOS has guidance on how to write medical articles). However, there's nothing wrong with the article describing treatments used by medical practitioners--in fact it's important content--it just needs to be cited to a reliable source, preferably a textbook or review article. Also, I would have kept the cited info about where in the skin the virus is (possibly move it) if the citation checks out. Good luck working this out among yourselves, any of you should feel free to ask if you'd like any further involvement or advice from me. Peace, delldot ∇. 21:56, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Err, I left a note for Wolfkeeper, but who's the other person? delldot ∇. 22:00, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I think for something like this, provided it's not a how-to, and provided it's well referenced we shouldn't be removing descriptions of medical treatments.- (User) Wolfkeeper (Talk) 03:58, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, those are my thoughts exactly! :) delldot ∇. 16:57, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
problem apparently solved. i never suggested (or didn't intend to suggest) that all descriptions of rx available be removed. only the do-it-yourself section. but i have heard from the other party and we are apparently all in agreement. thanks. friede mit dir. Toyokuni3 (talk) 17:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Great!  :D delldot ∇. 21:32, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
So, it's agreed, so I've reverted it before your deletion.- (User) Wolfkeeper (Talk) 22:40, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Um, but that section is completely unreferenced except for the first sentence. How about you re-remove the unreferenced material until reliable sources can be found for it? Also it should be reworded to avoid uses of words like "should" to avoid howto sounding. delldot ∇. 22:54, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
For the record -- I agreed with Toyokuni3 upon his explanation and citation of policy.Plhofmei (talk) 05:44, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
