Chief Trembling Earth, painted by Charles Bird King

Chief Trembling Earth (Sioux name Monkaushka) was Yankton Sioux chief. He acted as a delegate to Washington D.C. in 1837, where he became ill. He tried to return to his home, but died en route in Baltimore.
