Subsurface Flow (hydrology)

Subsurface flow is the flow of water beneath ground surface in hydrology. This is part of the water cycle.

In the water cycle, precipitation falls on hills and mountains. Some of the water flows over the surface, forming streams and rivers. Other water soaks through the soil (a process called infiltration), and passes underground, causing subsurface runoff.
