Ice IV

Ice IV is a metastable rhombohedral phase of ice. It can be formed by heating high-density amorphous ice slowly at a pressure of 0.81 GPa. It does not easily form without a nucleating agent.

Ordinary water ice is known as ice Ih, (in the Bridgman nomenclature). Different types of ice, from ice II to ice XIV, have been created in the laboratory at different temperatures and pressures.
