Atmospheric Sciences, like the common term "weather", covers a broad range of measured, forecasted, and observed phenomena. It should be contrasted with two related categories category:climate and category:climatology which deal with mean weather trends over time. NB: weather phenomena occuring between the Tropics of Cancer & Capricorn--an area known as the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone--is observed and classified separately in category:tropical cyclones and category:tropical meteorology.
